A recent systematic review has shed light on the potential benefits of probiotics for patients with morbid obesity undergoing bariatric surgery. The study, which included 11 randomized controlled trials and controlled clinical trials, found that probiotics significantly positively affected various health parameters. These included regulation of aspartate aminotransferase levels, triglycerides, weight loss, vitamin B12 levels, and dietary intake. Notably, no severe side effects were reported. These findings suggest that probiotics could be a valuable addition to the post-bariatric surgery regimen, offering potential benefits for liver function, lipid metabolism, and overall weight management.
