The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of DL-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) in patients with acute ischemic stroke who received reperfusion therapy. The primary outcome measured was the proportion of patients with a favorable functional outcome based on the 90-day modified Rankin Scale score. Of the 1216 enrolled patients, 607 were assigned to the butylphthalide group and 609 to the placebo group. The results showed that 56.7% of patients in the butylphthalide group had a favorable outcome, compared to 44.0% in the placebo group. Additionally, serious adverse events were reported in 10.1% of the butylphthalide group and 12.0% of the placebo group. These findings suggest that NBP can improve functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke receiving reperfusion therapy.
