This retrospective study evaluates the efficacy of bandage contact lenses (BCLs) in treating dry eye disease (DED) following complicated cataract or intraocular lens (IOL) surgery. Data from 69 patients reveal that wearing BCLs postoperatively significantly reduces OSDI questionnaire scores and fluorescein staining compared to non-BCL patients. Additionally, redness scores are better in the BCL group. Early BCL application improves patient comfort, alleviates DED symptoms, and enhances corneal epithelial healing. The study suggests BCLs stabilize tear film and alleviate ocular stress response, indicating their potential benefit in managing DED post-cataract or IOL surgery.
