This study compared the effectiveness of optical interventions (spectacles, soft contact lenses [SCLs], orthokeratology) for controlling childhood myopia. Treatment effects were evaluated using spherical equivalent refraction (SER) and axial length (AL) changes. Peripheral add design spectacles and SCLs showed similar SER effects, while OK lenses had the greatest AL impact. Effectiveness was strongest in the first 12 months but decreased over 24-36 months. Optical interventions effectively controlled childhood myopia but with diminishing long-term effects.
