Efficacy of Interval and Continuous Intradialytic Exercise in Hemodialysis Patients

The study assessed the safety and efficacy of interval and continuous intradialytic exercise (IDE) at anaerobic threshold (AT) levels in hemodialysis patients. Continuous IDE led to decreased systolic blood pressure (SBP) post-exercise compared to baseline, while interval IDE maintained better SBP levels. Interval IDE caused less tiredness and symptoms despite higher intensity. Both IDE approaches resulted in similar blood volume changes and dialysis efficiency. The study suggests that AT-level interval IDE offers improved hemodynamic stability and fewer symptoms, presenting a potentially novel and effective approach for hemodialysis individuals.
