Efficacy of Once-Weekly Semaglutide in Type 2 Diabetes

The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of once-weekly (OW) subcutaneous (SC) semaglutide with other treatments in achieving a composite metabolic endpoint in participants with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Pooled data from 10 trials including 7633 participants were analyzed. Results showed a significantly higher proportion of participants achieving the metabolic composite endpoint with OW SC semaglutide (0.5 and 1.0 mg) compared to comparators (23.7% and 32.0% vs. 11.5%, respectively). Pooled analysis also demonstrated a higher proportion of semaglutide recipients meeting the composite metabolic endpoint (29.1% vs. 11.4%). This suggests the potential benefits of OW SC semaglutide in managing T2D.
