Efficacy of Tezepelumab in Severe, Uncontrolled Asthma: Pooled Analysis of the PATHWAY and NAVIGATOR Clinical Trials

Tezepelumab, a potential treatment for severe asthma, has shown promising results in reducing asthma exacerbations in patients. The drug was tested in two trials, PATHWAY and NAVIGATOR, which included patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma. Regardless of baseline blood eosinophil counts, fractional exhaled nitric oxide levels, or allergy status, tezepelumab effectively reduced exacerbations. The pooled analysis of the trials demonstrated a 60% reduction in annualized asthma exacerbation rate compared to the placebo group. Additionally, tezepelumab improved secondary outcomes and had a similar incidence of adverse events as the placebo. These findings suggest that tezepelumab may be a beneficial treatment option for patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma.
