Elevated Secretoneurin Levels Associated with Favorable Coronary Collaterals in Stable Angina Patients with CTO

A study explored the relationship between bloodstream secretoneurin (SN) levels and coronary collateralization in stable angina patients with chronic coronary total occlusion (CTO). Serum SN concentrations were measured in 641 patients, revealing significantly higher levels in those with good coronary collaterals. SN increased across Rentrop scores, and higher SN tertiles correlated with better collateralization. Even after adjusting for variables, elevated SN remained an independent predictor of good collaterals. The diagnostic value of SN persisted across various patient characteristics. Elevated circulating SN may serve as an indicator of favorable angiographic coronary collaterals in stable angina patients with CTO.
