The study examined the impact of preoperative embolization and the type of embolization on the clinical outcomes of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) resection. The review included 61 studies with 917 patients. The results showed that preoperative embolization reduced blood loss during JNA resection. Direct puncture embolization (DPE) was associated with lower recurrence rates (0% vs. 9.5%) and complication rates (1.8% vs. 21.9%) compared to transarterial embolization (TAE). The use of embolization, particularly DPE, was found to be beneficial in reducing complications and improving outcomes in JNA resection.
