A study on antifungal therapy (AT) in critically ill patients found no significant difference in IFI-related mortality, overall rationale of AT, or duration of therapy between empirical and pre-emptive approaches. IFI-related mortality remained high, and AT use was often suboptimal. The findings highlight the need for better guidelines to optimize antifungal strategies in intensive care settings.
