Enavogliflozin, a novel SGLT2 inhibitor, effectively treats Korean people with type 2 diabetes

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of enavogliflozin 0.3 mg monotherapy in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who were inadequately controlled with diet and exercise. The study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial conducted in 23 hospitals. The primary outcome was a change in HbA1c at week 24 from baseline, and secondary outcomes included the proportion of participants achieving HbA1c <7.0%, a change in fasting glucose, body weight, and lipid levels. The results showed that enavogliflozin significantly improved glycaemic control, body weight, blood pressure, and lipid profile in patients with T2DM. No significant increase in treatment-related adverse events was observed for enavogliflozin.
