A new diagnostic tool, the Endoscopic Pressure Study Integrated System (EPSIS), has been evaluated as a potential adjunct for diagnosing achalasia. This study compared EPSIS data from an achalasia group (35 patients) and a control group (34 patients) who underwent various tests. Results showed that all achalasia patients displayed an "uphill" waveform pattern, while only 61.8% of the control group did. The study found that IGP-Max and pressure gradient measurements were effective in diagnosing achalasia. EPSIS shows promise as a diagnostic tool for achalasia.
