Eosinophil Subtypes in Adults with Asthma and Adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

A recent study has discovered variations in eosinophil subtypes between individuals with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The findings revealed that patients with asthma had a higher proportion of inflammatory eosinophils (iEos) compared to those with COPD, smokers without COPD, and healthy volunteers. Furthermore, iEos in asthma patients exhibited a higher expression of IL-5 receptors than resident eosinophils.
