Sperm DNA integrity plays a vital role in successful fertilization and embryo development. However, it is rarely assessed in clinical practice. To address this, a study evaluated the sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) in nearly 1,200 samples, examining its correlation with various factors. The results showed that aging was strongly associated with higher DFI levels. Samples collected in spring and summer exhibited higher DFI levels compared to other seasons, potentially due to the negative impact of temperature. Surprisingly, rural patients had higher DFI levels than urban patients. Additionally, individuals with epilepsy had significantly higher DFI levels, possibly due to associated treatments. BMI did not show a correlation with DFI.
