ePVS at Discharge Predicts Mortality in AMI Patients

A study assessed the impact of estimated plasma volume status (ePVS) at discharge on long-term mortality in 1,012 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The primary endpoint was post-discharge all-cause death, with patients divided into high-ePVS (>5.5%) and low-ePVS (≤5.5%) groups. The median age was 70 years, and 76.4% were male. The high-ePVS group (36.1%) had a significantly higher all-cause mortality rate compared to the low-ePVS group. Multivariate analysis confirmed high ePVS as an independent predictor of post-discharge mortality. The findings suggest that ePVS at discharge is a valuable prognostic marker for long-term outcomes in AMI patients.
