Etiology-Based Prognosis in ECPR for OHCA: A Multicenter Study in Japan

A study delves into the factors affecting patient outcomes in extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Notably, accidental hypothermia emerged with significantly higher favorable neurological results and survival rates compared to cardiac causes. Conversely, acute aortic dissection/aneurysm and primary cerebral disorders were associated with lower survival rates. The study enhances our understanding of patient selection for ECPR therapy in OHCA cases.
