The use of high global warming potential propellants, like HFA-134a, in pressurised metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs) is being phased out. A new study examines the reformulation of the asthma and COPD treatment combination beclometasone dipropionate/formoterol fumarate/glycopyrronium bromide (BDP/FF/GB) using the low global warming potential propellant HFA-152a. Results from three studies indicate that while formal bioequivalence was not achieved for all parameters, therapeutic equivalence was demonstrated, supporting the transition to HFA-152a. Both formulations showed similar tolerability, marking a significant step towards environmentally friendly inhaler options.
