Evaluating levonorgestrel Intrauterine System and Resectoscopy for Intermenstrual Bleeding in Cesarean Scar Defects

The study compared the efficacy of the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUD) and resectoscopy remodeling for intermenstrual bleeding linked to previous cesarean delivery scar defects (PCDS). Results at 12 months showed comparable overall efficacy, but the LNG-IUD group exhibited a greater reduction in intermenstrual bleeding days (13.6 days) compared to resectoscopy group (8.5 days). The LNG-IUD was particularly beneficial for those with increased local vascularization, while individuals with larger uteri responded less favourably. The study suggests that LNG-IUD is a safe and effective alternative to resectoscopy for managing intermenstrual bleeding in PCDS, particularly in patients with enhanced local vascularization.
