Evaluating noninvasive brain stimulation to treat overactive bladder in individuals with multiple sclerosis

This study explores treating neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). Employing neuro-navigation and tailored rTMS protocols targeting specific brain regions, excitatory or inhibitory signals are applied to restore neural circuitry affecting bladder function. Challenges include recruiting participants with similar symptomology and ensuring sufficient white matter for effective stimulation. Despite limitations, the study aims to enhance the quality of life for MS patients with NLUTD through personalized neuromodulation.
