Examining the Relationship between Bruch's Membrane and Brücke's Muscle in the Pars Plana Region

The study examined the relationship between Bruch's membrane and the longitudinal part of the ciliary muscle in the pars plana region. Histomorphometric analysis showed that the ciliary muscle had direct contact with Bruch's membrane in this region and that there was a focal thickening of Bruch's membrane at the end of the ciliary muscle. This indicates that the ciliary muscle is inserted on Bruch's membrane and may be involved in accommodation. The study suggests that the ciliary muscle and Bruch's membrane may function as a unit in the accommodation process, which could have implications for understanding the biomechanics of the eye.
