This study investigates the role of lactosylceramide alpha-2,3-sialyltransferase (ST3G5) in peritoneal cancer metastasis. Exosomes secreted by ST3G5high cancer cells (ST3G5high-cExos) contribute to forming a premetastatic niche in peritoneal milky spots by inducing pro-inflammatory responses, metabolic changes, mesothelial-mesenchymal transition, and immunosuppression in the microenvironment, facilitating cancer metastasis.
