Exploring Definitions and Predictors of Severe Asthma Clinical Remission after Biologic Treatment in Adults

This longitudinal cohort study from the International Severe Asthma Registry examined the remission rates in adults with severe asthma after biologic initiation. Among 23 countries, 20.3% of patients achieved four-domain remission within one year, defined by no exacerbations, no long-term oral corticosteroids, controlled asthma, and FEV1 ≥ 80%. Factors positively associated with remission included fewer exacerbations, lower oral corticosteroid doses, better asthma control, and improved lung function prior to treatment. The study highlights the importance of early biologic intervention for better remission outcomes in asthma patients.
