Exploring Emotional Awareness in Migraine Management: A Cross-Sectional Study

The cross-sectional study surveyed 170 adults with migraine in the UK, Austria, Germany, and the US, aiming to understand the impact of emotional awareness on self-care behaviors. Despite global prevalence, migraine management remains primarily pharmaceutical-focused. Results indicate high reliance on preventive strategies, with emotional triggers acknowledged by 92.4% respondents. While lifestyle changes were popular, interventions addressing emotional aspects (like mood diaries) were less favored. The study reveals a gap between the recommended biopsychosocial approach and the current pharmaceutical-centric migraine management, emphasizing the need for a more comprehensive strategy.
