The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between left atrial (LA) volume and pulmonary arterial haemodynamics in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The data from 85 patients were retrospectively analyzed. The results showed that increasing LA volume was associated with advanced pulmonary vascular disease in HFpEF, featuring higher pulmonary vascular resistance and pulmonary pressures. Additionally, reduced LA function, worse at increasing LA volumes, is associated with a disrupted pulmonary resistance-compliance relationship, further augmenting impaired pulmonary haemodynamic.
