Exploring the Ten-year Trends in Immediate Sequential Bilateral Cataract Surgery (ISBCS)

The study analyzed trends in immediate sequential bilateral cataract surgery (ISBCS) reported to the Swedish National Cataract Register over 10 years. The total number of ISBCS increased significantly over time while the occurrence of ocular comorbidities decreased. The use of a capsular tension ring was more common in ISBCS, while other measures taken during surgery were more common in delayed sequential bilateral cataract surgery (DSBCS). The study concluded that ISBCS is becoming more prevalent, with less risk factors but still experiencing ocular comorbidities and surgical complications.
