The study aimed to investigate the dimensions of tibial spine fractures (TSFs) using 3-dimensional imaging and determine their implications for treatment and clinical outcomes. The study analyzed magnetic resonance imaging data from 2012 to 2020 for TSFs in patients aged 5 to 18 years. They measured the anteroposterior dimensions of the fractures and their extension into weight-bearing regions of the tibial plateau. It was found that TSF beds were larger in younger patients and extended to the posterior third of the epiphysis in 54% of cases. It also revealed that TSFs often involve more of the tibial plateau than just the anatomic footprint of the tibial spine.
