A UK multicentre study validated a model predicting salvage focal ablation failure within 2 years in patients with recurrent prostate cancer. The study assessed 168 patients who underwent focal HIFU or cryotherapy. The model demonstrated moderate accuracy but good calibration and clinical utility, aiding in selecting appropriate treatment candidates. Experts suggest its use to discuss salvage options with patients. Further validation in larger, international cohorts with longer follow-ups is recommended. Promising advancement in prostate cancer treatment awaits.
