A multicenter study conducted in Spain involving 672 patients explored risk factors for heart failure (HF) worsening in individuals with atrial fibrillation (AF) and HF taking rivaroxaban for over four months. After 24 months, 24.9% experienced HF worsening, 11.6% died, and 2.9% had thromboembolic events. Factors like older age, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease history, prior use of vitamin K antagonists, and certain cardiomyopathies were linked to HF worsening. Only 6.9% permanently discontinued rivaroxaban. Understanding these risk factors is crucial for comprehensive management of the patient population.
