Factors associated with the identification of mental health conditions among people with learning disabilities in primary care: A scoping review

A scoping review has found that mental health conditions among adults with learning disabilities may often go unnoticed or undiagnosed in primary care settings. Six key themes emerged, including the need for mental health screening in primary care, education and training for healthcare staff, improved access to psychological therapies, health checks and continuity of care, specialist support for primary care providers, and raising awareness among adults with learning disabilities. The findings highlight the importance of implementing measures to enhance mental health identification and support within primary care for this population.
