This study examined the association between social relations, acculturation, perceived oral health needs, and dental care utilization in foreign-born older Chinese Americans. The study found that 23.1% of participants reported dental care utilization. Those with positive social relations with spouse, family, and friends were less likely to visit a dentist. Higher levels of behavioral acculturation increased the likelihood of dental care utilization, while residing in Chinatown decreased the likelihood. Participants with perceived oral health needs were more likely to visit a dentist. The findings highlight the significance of considering social relationships, immigration-related factors, and oral health needs in dental care utilization among older immigrants.
