Family-related risk indicators and dental attendance in association with dental caries in preschool children

This register-based study investigated the impact of family-related risk indicators and dental attendance on the development of dental caries in preschool children. Data from 206 randomly selected children in Oulu, Finland, from 2014 to 2020 were analyzed. The study found a significant association between family-related risk indicators and the prevalence of caries in 5- to 6-year-olds. Key risk factors included parental exhaustion and relationship issues. The results highlight the importance of considering family-related factors and dental attendance in assessing caries risk.
