Faropenem has improved stability and decreased CNS effects due to its chiral tetrahydrofuran substituent. It resists hydrolysis and exhibits stable bactericidal activity in serum. In India, clinicians prescribe faropenem for ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae, leading to higher consumption than carbapenems. Studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in treating community-acquired pneumonia, with similar cure rates to amoxicillin. Faropenem has a favorable safety profile, making it a potential first-line treatment option for community-acquired infections in India.

Current care emphasizes diagnosis, limited targeted testing, disease monitoring and stepwise treatment, beginning with second-generation H1-antihistamines and up-dosing when needed. Omalizumab and newer therapies such as dupilumab and remibrutinib expand options for refractory disease, while future care may be guided by biomarkers and disease endotypes.

A study found that the peak amplitude of infraslow oscillations in sleep spindle activity was significantly reduced in people with Alzheimer’s disease, while frequency and bandwidth remained preserved. However, limited comparative evidence highlights the need for species-specific, high-quality randomized trials.
