The US FDA has approved Guardant Health's blood test, Shield, for detecting colorectal cancer (CRC). Shield, previously available as a laboratory-developed test since 2022, is now closer to being Medicare-covered, providing a convenient screening alternative to feces-based tests. This marks the second FDA-approved blood test for CRC screening, following Epigenomics' Epi proColon. Guardant's shares surged 16% following the approval, targeting over 50 million unscreened individuals.
