This retrospective study evaluates the feasibility of combining peritoneal dialysis (PD) with left ventricular assist device (LVAD) therapy in heart failure patients. Nine patients were analyzed, with a mean age of 67 years. The main cause of kidney disease was cardio-renal syndrome in 67%. PD was established prior to LVAD implantation and continued for an average of 72 months. Four patients experienced driveline infections, while three had PD catheter infections. The mean survival after LVAD and PD was 56.5 months, illustrating that long-term PD use in LVAD patients is achievable with minimal complications.
