Ferroptotic stress promotes the AKI to CKD transition

Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic regulated cell death pathway that has been implicated in the pathogenesis of acute kidney injury (AKI). Now, Tomokazu Souma and colleagues report that ferroptotic stress promotes maladaptive kidney repair and the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) following AKI.
