This study compared outcomes of asymptomatic stage I twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) patients treated with fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) versus expectant management. Five studies were analyzed, and the results showed no significant difference in fetal survival at birth, gestational age at delivery, preterm premature rupture of membranes, preterm birth, and single and dual fetal survival between the FLP and expectant groups. The researchers concluded that routine FLP before 26 weeks of gestation may not benefit asymptomatic stable stage I TTTS patients without cervical shortening, as it does not offer a survival advantage compared to expectant management.
