Free gingival graft (FGG) showed superior outcomes compared to collagen matrix (CM) for augmenting keratinized mucosa (KM) around posterior dental implants. Thirty patients received either FGG or CM to increase KM around implants. While both groups experienced increased KM width (KMW) during follow-up, FGG had a significantly greater KMW at multiple time points. At the 5-year follow-up, KM shrinkage was lower in the FGG group, and patient satisfaction was high in both groups.
