A study of 2,634 patients from the Bronchiectasis and NTM Research Registry assessed the impact of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) on 5-year clinical outcomes and mortality. The all-cause mortality rate was 12.6% for patients with NTM and 11.5% for those without. Predictors of mortality included baseline lung function, age, prior hospitalization, BMI, and sex. Spirometry, exacerbations, and hospitalizations were similar between groups, with annual exacerbations being lower in patients with NTM. Overall, clinical outcomes were comparable regardless of NTM status.
