FNA Accuracy in Diagnosing Malignant Thyroid Nodules

FNA Accuracy in Diagnosing Malignant Thyroid Nodules

The study evaluated the accuracy of fine needle aspiration (FNA) in diagnosing malignancy in thyroid nodules. Among 310 patients, the overall FNA accuracy was 92.2%, with a sensitivity of 89.6% and specificity of 96.8%. Logistic regression revealed that Bethesda classification and tumor size were significantly correlated with diagnostic accuracy. Larger nodules (>3 cm) had the highest accuracy (97.1%), while smaller nodules (<1 cm) had the lowest (73.2%).
