Freethiadine Shows Promise in Chronic Hepatitis B Treatment

Freethiadine, a novel HBV capsid assembly modulator, demonstrated an acceptable safety profile and significant antiviral activity in a study with 88 healthy subjects and 40 chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. After 28 days, HBV DNA declined by up to −3.56 log10 IU/mL, and pregenomic RNA decreased by −2.26 log10 copies/mL. Freethiadine was well-tolerated, with alanine aminotransferase elevation as the most common mild adverse event.
