FS-LASIK with PAE Algorithm Shows Superior Corneal Aberration Correction

The study analyzed clinical outcomes after topography-guided femtosecond laser–assisted laser in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) with either the Phorcides Analytic Engine (PAE) algorithm or the Custom-Q FS-LASIK system in 90 eyes with myopia without manifest astigmatism. At 6 months postoperatively, uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) was 20/20 or better in 100% of eyes in the PAE group and 92% in the Custom-Q group (P=.120). UDVA of 20/16 or better was achieved in 92% of eyes in the PAE group compared to 81% in the Custom-Q group (P=.320). The postoperative optical path difference (OPD) and Strehl ratio (SR) were significantly better in the PAE group. Both methods demonstrated similar refractive efficacy and predictability, with PAE showing superior results in correcting corneal aberrations.
