Boosting GABA improves FTLD impairments! Using magnetoencephalography, researchers found that diminished movement-related beta power correlated with behavioral deficits in FTLD disorders. Tiagabine, a GABA re-uptake inhibitor, partially restored neurophysiology and behavior, particularly in patients with higher cognitive scores. The right prefrontal cortex emerged as a key site of drug interaction. These findings highlight the potential of GABAergic enhancement as a therapeutic approach, warranting further clinical trials.
