A study comparing sun protection knowledge and behaviors between 86 cutaneous melanoma (CM) patients and 174 healthy controls revealed significant differences. Melanoma patients demonstrated lower education levels (p < 0.001) and less accurate knowledge about sunscreen application methods, such as applying sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure, reapplying every 2–4 hours, and after activities like swimming or sports (p < 0.001 for each parameter). In contrast, the control group displayed better adherence to recommended sun protection behaviors. These findings underscore the need for targeted educational initiatives to improve sun safety awareness among melanoma patients and promote effective prevention strategies.
