A study assessed the impact of gastric bypass surgery on blood sugar regulation in obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Ninety patients were divided into two groups: Group A underwent gastric bypass surgery, while Group B received standard antidiabetic medications. After one year, Group A significantly improved anthropometric measurements, lipid profiles, blood pressure, and glucose metabolism indicators, including reduced fasting plasma glucose and HbA1c levels, decreased fasting insulin and HOMA-IR, and increased GLP1 levels. These findings highlight gastric bypass surgery as an effective intervention for uncontrolled T2DM. Further research is warranted to confirm these results.
