GBP4 Variants and Genetic Risk for Drug-Induced Acute Liver Failure

This study investigates genetic predispositions to drug-induced acute liver failure (DIALF). Whole exome sequencing of 75 cases identified eight variants in the GBP4 gene associated with a reduced risk of DIALF, particularly in non-Finnish Europeans. Two variants, rs561037 and rs561042, were linked to milder clinical outcomes. GBP4, involved in immune response, may influence immune and inflammatory mechanisms in DIALF, warranting further investigation into its role.
