
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDPs) contribute significantly to global maternal morbidity and mortality, with long-term cardiovascular risks for affected women. The study employed two-sample mendelian randomization to link genetic instruments for cardiovascular proteins with gestational hypertension and preeclampsia. Genetic data from the SCALLOP consortium and recent genome-wide association studies revealed 10 proteins associated with HDPs. Notably, NT-proBNP and HSP27 were linked to gestational hypertension, and cystatin B and HSP27 to preeclampsia. Observational data supported these findings, suggesting potential targets for interventions reducing HDP risk through these proteins.
