Global Effect of Modifiable Risk Factors on Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality

A worldwide analysis of 112 studies involving 1.5 million participants across 34 countries highlights the impact of five modifiable risk factors – body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, and diabetes – on cardiovascular disease and overall mortality. Notable gender and regional variations in risk factor prevalence were found. Results indicate that 57.2% and 52.6% of women's and men's cardiovascular cases, respectively, and 22.2% and 19.1% of women's and men's all-cause mortality can be attributed to these factors.
