Global prevalence, cascade of care, and prophylaxis coverage of hepatitis B in 2022: a modelling study

Among children aged 5 and younger, the prevalence was 0.7% (5.6 million). 85% of infants received HBV vaccination, but elimination targets by 2030 are still distant for many countries. Efforts to enhance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment are crucial to achieving elimination goals. Existing therapies and prophylaxis make elimination feasible, but greater action is needed. This study highlights the importance of focusing on HBV eradication as a public health threat.
