
A recent study aimed to assess the risk of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer associated with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) compared to sulfonylureas in type 2 diabetes patients. The results showed no increased risk of melanoma (HR 0.96, 95% CI 0.53–1.75) or nonmelanoma skin cancer (HR 1.03, 95% CI 0.80–1.33) with GLP-1 RAs compared to sulfonylureas. Cumulative duration of use also didn't show an association with cancer risk. The findings suggest that, in this cohort study, GLP-1 RAs are not linked to a higher risk of melanoma or nonmelanoma skin cancer compared to sulfonylureas.
