Gout Flares Common After Discontinuing Anti-inflammatory Prophylaxis

The research shows that gout flares are common after stopping anti-inflammatory prophylaxis, with a significant increase in flare occurrence during the first three months. After ceasing prophylaxis, 29.7% of patients experienced at least one gout flare, while the flare rate returned to levels seen during prophylaxis in subsequent periods. Effective management plans should be in place for patients to manage flare risks during this time.
